About Pantechs

Pantechs Laboratories, Inc. was founded in 1969 by Jim Holcomb in the booming oil town of Pampa, Texas. Recognizing the need for accurate, dependable, and efficient analytical services to support regional oilfields operated by companies such as Phillips Petroleum and Getty, Jim established Pantechs on a foundation of quality, reliability, and integrity. His dedication to precision and service excellence quickly earned the trust of operators throughout the Texas Panhandle. Building on that foundation, Jim’s son Steve Holcomb expanded operations by opening a new laboratory in Lubbock in 1976. When Steve became President in 1996 following Jim’s retirement, he introduced advanced analytical capabilities—including detailed and extended gas and liquid analysis—that solidified Pantechs’ reputation as a premier laboratory serving oil and gas operators, transporters, and refiners across Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Kansas.

In 2016, Ryan Holcomb, the third generation, returned to the company and became President in 2021 following Steve’s retirement. Drawing on more than 20 years of petroleum engineering experience, Ryan has led Pantechs through a period of modernization and expansion. Under his leadership, the company has implemented state-of-the-art instrumentation, developed custom-built applications for process and data management, and introduced a wide range of advanced analytical testing methods—including hydrocarbon characterization, compositional gas analysis, and customized sampling solutions. These innovations have strengthened Pantechs’ technical capabilities while upholding the legacy of precision, reliability, and personal service established over five decades ago.
